3. NEVER try to sell your ideas by ramrodding them through the group. Under pressure you may get agreement, but the chances are your group will let you stand alone in failure, and will not celebrate success with you even though the program goes through.
STEP IV. Your committee persons were carefully selected and gave their consent to serve. Initially they are as committed as you. They will remain as dedicated as the leader. They will assume you are committed if:
1. You come to the meetings prepared . . plan an
agenda
2. You do not call off meetings.
3. You stay in touch with them during the implementation of their program -
-
4. You solicit the support of the total committee in backing committee
projects, and report your emerging progress to the Council and Administrative Board. One
of the most discouraging experiences in the church is to prepare a program and do it
outside of congregational support.
5. Discuss the Consecration Service to install your leaders, give
date, and time. Tell what it will mean to them and the church.
STEP V. Use the Church Staff.
Call on us when you need:
1. Materials
2. Someone to sound off to when programs seem to be failing or when they are
going so well you want to celebrate.
3. Someone to help find additional personnel.
4. Information on persons in your committee that is needed in order to make
intelligent
assignments.
