Staff Secretary
Provide secretarial support for Pastors, Support Staff (i.e. Director of Christian Education, Director of Music Ministries), Administrative and Program Chairpersons.
v
To serve as the Receptionist.
v
To produce a Church newsletter as needed, run off copies, fold, and make Post
Office report.
v
To produce the weekly bulletin, run off copies, fold and distribute to pastor,
choir room and sanctuary.
v
To prepare bulletins for special services (i.e. Holy Week, Thanksgiving and
Christmas Eve Communion, children and chancel choir programs, funerals, Easter
Sunrise Service, etc.)
v
To type minutes of meetings and run off copies for members of Administrative
Committees (Trustees, Church Council, etc.).
v
To prepare Annual Charge Conference reports, and Annual Church Report to the
Annual Conference (i.e. Tables I and II).
v
To type for Pastors and Support Staff as needed.
v
To keep Church Records such as addresses, telephone numbers and membership
records up to date.
v
To answer telephones (2 lines) and door buzzer.
v
To type and mail cards as reminders for:
v
all scheduled meetings at church as
requested.
v
worship assistants each week.
v
To serve as the Membership Secretary for First United Methodist Church and to
keep the records up to date, as well as, to prepare the Membership Report for
the Annual Charge Conference and prove statistics for Table I & II year-end
reports to the Pastor for Annual Conference deadlines.
v
To order flowers for the altar each week and to list in the bulletin after
getting information from person donating flowers that week.
v
To keep outside bulletin boards posted with current sermon title and/or other
appropriate information.
v
To order office supplies
v
To be attentive to members
v
answer questions,
v
offer help to brides/mothers regarding wedding procedures
v
keep the pastors informed of members’ needs/requests.
Supervisory Controls
40 hours per week – (8a.m. – 12 noon, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.)
