O thou who art always with us,
But whose presence is most often recognized in retrospect,
Bless us with your presence as we celebrate your coming 2,000 years ago.

You were expected, and wanted.
You came.
Yet, your arrival was so unusual
That very few one really comprehended your arrival.
No one knew what you were about until you were gone.

In this season, we believe you are here,
Help us to comprehend evidences of your presence.
Help us to see you in each other,
Help us to hear the heavenly chorus in the music the morning,
Help us to bless you, as we give and receive gifts of love.

Grant us, the gift to love each other.
May our love be more than just spoken words but also
actions expressed.

Above all, O Lord, Grant, that we may all so live that people
can see you alive in our actions.

In Christ's name.

Amen.
